What Are Togs

The phrase togs is twitter short for the word photographers.

It is usually preceded by the # (hash) symbol.  So it correctly reads #togs.  Hashtags are used in conjunction with search.twitter.com to make it easier to find related tweets about a subject (in this case, tweets about photographers).  You can find out more about hashtags by visiting hashtags.org.

Here, in this space, we use the term #togs to specifically refer to a photographer on twitter that is particularly wired, connected, social-media savvy.

Most love the term #togs.  Others hate it.  Its admittedly obtuse.  But will grow on you over time.  Run with it.  The word itself was invented by friend Lee Torrens, @microstock.  And popularized by yours truly, @photojack .

What Are Toginars

Again, the phrase ‘toginars’ is twitter speak for the combined words ‘photographers’ and ‘seminars’.

The market here for these one-hour, audio only, teleseminars or teleclasses, is photographers on twitter – established pros and serious hobbyists.

These toginars will be weekly, hosted by @photojack. And feature twitter rock stars, power-users, and average Joe’s and Jane’s. But all that have a heart to redefine and remodel their photo business and brands trough leveraging social media tools, techniques, and technologies.

Why Bother

Because it’s critical to your succeeding in this wired universe. Your customers are here. Your vendors are here. Your joint-venture partners are here. The media is here.

Time to think big. Or go home. Adapt or die. That’s the mantra here.

I have made no secret whatsoever about my mission on twitter (an other social media). And that is this – to help photographers (#togs) turn followers, friends and fans into clients, customers, brand advocates and evangelists.

My vision and passion is to help you grow your business, get connected, learn social media.

No small task. No idle chat. No tidbits about what I’m eating or where I’m vacationing. All business speak. More importantly, it will be ‘business as unusual’ here. Promise.

When
Weekly. Beginning in May. All toginars will be scheduled for the same time:

• 8 pm Eastern
• 7 pm Central
• 6 pm Mountain
• 5 pm Pacific

We’ll take the temperature, as we go along, and see if there are times more suitable to accommodate the majority.

How

These are audio-only toginars. For most of them, you’ll be able to access via a landline, mobile device or laptop. See details in ‘sign up section’.

For the majority of these toginars, there will be only one guest and one host. However, on occasion, we’ll open the scope for multiple guests.

Each session will be strictly one hour in length. 45 minutes of interview, and 15 minutes of ending Q&A.

All registered attendees will also receive, within 7-10 days of the toginar, options to download a PDF transcript and / or mp3 audio file (which we will be inventorying in the ‘archive’ section).

The Point

To collectively grow our photo businesses.

To figure out how to monetize our ROT (return on time).

To ‘fast track’ a strategy for leveraging social media in the marketplace.

To listen to each other…it takes a village!

To reinvent our selves in this glorious process of discovery.
